What is grit?

• It is the number of grains sprinkled on the surface of a paper file per square centimeter.

What does this mean in practice?

• The higher the number/grit, the finer the file will be.

A stronger grit will quickly and effectively remove, among other things, hybrid and gel residue and prepare the nails for further treatments, while a softer grit will be useful for shaping the natural nail plate, matting it and giving it the desired final shape.

• A 100/180 grit file, known as a classic file, is the most commonly chosen. It is used to shape extended/extended nails, to shorten them and to give them shape.
• A 180/240 grit file, i.e., a fine-grained file, is usually used for classic and hybrid manicures, where there is greater contact with the natural nail plate.
